Trudie Ann (Smith) Wilson, a longtime resident of Laguna Niguel, California, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2021, from complications relating to Lewy Body Dementia. She was 75 years of age. Trudie was born on May 22, 1946 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Harold and Rowena (Spalding) Smith. She was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from McLain High School in 1964. In 1967, Trudie married William E. Wilson of Tulsa, Oklahoma. They had one daughter together. In 1970, they moved to Baltimore, Maryland where Trudie worked for Johns Hopkins University. In 1976, Trudie moved to Ontario, California where she got her real estate license and became an agent with Herbert Hawkins Realty. In the early 80’s, she began a career in the new-home building industry, most of that time employed by Lennar Homes in Irvine, California, as their Western Region DRE Director, retiring in 2016. During her time at Lennar, she enjoyed helping with the Lennar Charitable Housing Foundation and the many charities they supported over the years. Trudie is survived by her daughter, Lisa Volm, and husband, Keith. Three grandchildren; Christina Palacios, and husband, Luis; Ashley Taft, and wife, Valerie; and Ryan Volm. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Kimm; brother, James (Jim) Smith; and sister, Sharon Carnahan and husband, Barry; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family was the most important thing in Trudie’s life. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, and she loved spending time with them. She enjoyed her road trips seeing the country with her parents and brother, Jim; going to Dallas Cowboy games with her sister, Sharon; as well as family reunions and visits to the lake with her sister, Judy. Trudie loved the California coast and watching sunsets on the beach. She loved football and was a dedicated life-long Dallas Cowboys fan. She also enjoyed fast cars, and was a fan of NASCAR and Indy car races. She had a love of history and genealogy, and was a member of the Mission Viejo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.lbda.org.

  2. Very sorry to read of Trudie’s passing. I met Trudie when she was at Lennar, and I was fortunate enough to get to be friends with her over the course of about 7 years. Unfortunately we lost touch when I moved out of the country. She was extremely smart, funny and hard working. Really sad to hear of her passing, but I know she led a great life. My condolences to her family.

    • Thank you, Jeanne. She is missed very much. Appreciate your condolences and leaving a message. Hope all is well. Take care. Lisa
