In Loving Memory of Richard Lujan Franco
So many memories to cherish…always remembered with love and laughter
Richard L. Franco, age 82, passed away peacefully in San Diego, CA on
Wednesday, November 11, 2020.
Richard Lujan Franco was a beloved father, grandfather, husband, and brother. Born on
May 4, 1938, in Roswell, NM. He was one of 8 children born to Eva “Mamalita” Lujan and
Pedro Franco.Â
Richard was raised in Roswell, NM and lived in Roswell until 1958, when he relocated to California after enlisting in the California Army National Guard. During his time in the California Army National Guard, he served with distinction, receiving several military citations until his honorable discharge in 1998, after 43 years of service. During his military career, he continued with his government service with the Department of Defense as a Quality Assurance Inspector at Hughes Aircraft, McDonell Douglas and Boeing, finally retiring in 1993.
On January 20, 1962, he married Mary Rodriguez. Richard and Mary were married 58 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his four children: Richard M. Franco, Christopher Franco (Karen Franco), Andrew Franco (Maria Yerena) and Raquel Franco; his three grandchildren: Mykaela Tuthill, Callum Tuthill, and Jacob Hughes; and his siblings: Pedro L. Franco (Marsie Franco), Esperanza Sombke, Mary Alvarado and Helen Mendiola.Â
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Lujan Herrera; his father, Pedro Franco; and his four brothers: Usvaldo Franco, Pedro N. Franco, Jr., Luis Flores, and Antonio Flores.
Richard was a remarkable man; not only a loving, devoted and supportive husband, father and grandfather but also a great patriot, who enjoyed repairing items in his shop, camping with his family, long drives with Mary and listening to audio books. He lived an amazing life that will be remembered by all that crossed his path.
The family would like to thank all those who assisted our Father, including: Dr. Raveen Arora and Staff, Dr. Gordon Ho, the Medical Staff at St Jude Medical Center and the Staff at UCSD Medical Center-La Jolla. Richard was a long time resident of Anaheim.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
