Edgar Eugene Edwards

September 4, 1943 ~ June 9, 2022
Edgar Eugene Edwards was born in Vallejo California on September 4, 1943 to the late Ira and Gertrude Edwards, while living in Oroville, California. While raising two sons Donald and Edgar, Ira was a hard worker on such projects as the Hoover Dam and Gertie was a teacher who worked seasonally in Libby’s peach cannery and was known for her peach cobbler!
On March 9th 1966, Ed entered the armed forces, and served our country faithfully while stationed at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, until he was honorably discharged. Then served in the Army Reserves until 1972. After completing his duty to our country, and while raising his children James and Deborah, he pursued a degree at Chico State University graduating at the top of his class receiving a dual degree in Electric Engineering as well as Civil engineering. His engineering career began with director positions in Public works in Yuba City, Ridgecrest and then South Pasadena. He then became a Civil Engineer with Harris and Associates in Orange County. Ed’s dedication and hard work encouraged an invitation to become a Principal Associate with Harris and associates and eventually a Vice- President. As his life had taken him on many different journeys, his career with Harris kept him in Southern California, while his then adult children were residing in Florida.
Edward’s job as a civil engineer with Harris and associates, was likened to his father as he worked on roads, bridges and commercial buildings. He enjoyed his work tremendously an engineer, and was delighted that his work crossed his path to meet Anna, who was working for Motorola company in the late 80’s. Ed and Anna enjoyed life together for years before they were married at Dana Point overlooking the Harbor. Ed loved sailing and Co owned a 30 ft. Catalina in which he enjoyed numerous sails with family and friends. They moved to Temecula in 1984, and began attending Calvary Chapel Church in Temecula. Ed was then baptized by Pastor Clark. Their marriage blessed them with many busy holidays with their blended family, and Ed’s favorite part of parenting, Grandparenting!!!
Everyone who knew Ed, knew that he was an engineer to the core. He was passionate about his projects and his family. If he wasn’t working a project, he was playing with his grandkids or better yet, getting his grandkids in on the projects. He formally retired as an engineer, but continued his engineering passion on his rental properties. He employed mostly family, which included the restoration of a Victorian home in the historic district of Redlands, California and various properties in Temecula Murrieta.
Edgar Eugene Edwards, age 78, passed away peacefully in his home, in Temecula, California on June 9th 2022. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones. He is survived by his wife Anna Edwards of 30 years and their blended family: James, Deborah, Harold and Monica, Nikki and Joseph, and Bethany and Ralph, and their late daughters Linda and Cindy. Their 18 grandsons, 5 granddaughters and 15 great grandchildren ( and counting!!)
To our dear Ed, you are our Papa and our friend, we love you and you will be greatly missed!
