Aileen Irma Arenson

aileen arenson

Loving Mother, Grandmother, USFSA Figure Skater, Teacher, and Animal Lover, Aileen I Arenson (Age 86) passed away peacefully with her son, Lance Arenson, and granddaughter, Jenna Arenson, by her side after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Aileen started ice skating at the age of four. This would blossom into a lifelong passion and dedication for the sport culminating in a US Championship in Junior Ice Dance in 1956. She was an elementary school teacher in La Mesa, CA before retiring. In her retirement, she became a USFSA judge and travelled all over the United States judging skating events. A past La Jolla figure skating club president and member of the board of governors, she devoted 55+ years in support of the U.S. Figure Skating association. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.

  1. I knew Aileen for many years as a judge for the San Diego Figure Skating Club. I am the Skating Director at the facility and I can tell you, this lady knew her stuff! She was an excellent judge and a very knowledgeable skater which made her an even scarier judge! Ha, ha. I always told my skaters you better make sure you know what you’re doing when being tested by Aileen because she won’t miss a trick! Aileen and I had many laughs together over the years. Her presence is very much missed in our skating community.

  2. Aileen shared her light everywhere she went, making our world a kinder place! Heaven has certainly gained a treasure! Her sweet memory lives on….

    • I met Aileen about 30 years ago. It was a pleasure having her on the judging panel. She was sincere, consistent, and added a special class as well. She will be missed by skaters, coaches, and all involved in the skating community.
