Ardeth Lynde Skjod

In loving memory, Ardeth Lynde Skjod, age 83, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from complications of Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). She was surrounded by her family in Menifee, California. Ardie was born on March 30, 1937 to John Robert Byrnes and Kathlyn Ruby (Proctor) Byrnes in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts. Ardeth was the oldest of three children (Jacquline Palmquist, and Robert “Sonny" Byrnes). Ardie’s Grandmother, Mary Elizabeth (Mae-Mae) Proctor, was a book editor. "Ardeth Lynde" was a character in a book that Mae Mae read, although we have yet to find the title of that book. Ardie was a passionate and gifted quilter. This hobby began when times were tough, and money was tight; She made quilts that year for Christmas gifts. From there, the passion for quilting grew and she continued to build her skills, becoming a Master Quilter and Teacher. She created the most beautiful award-winning quilts that have now been passed down to her family. She would always put a handwritten or embroidered label on each quilt she gave as a gift, or kept in her collection, with the name of the quilt. We found this quote written on one, from 2007: “Blessed are the children of Quilters, for they shall inherit the quilts”.
Ardie and her husband, James Henry Skjod, had three children; Rhonda (Mike) McCray, Sandra (Brian) Howitt, and Stephen (Lori) Skjod; Eight grandchildren; Blake Nicole, Lindsey Kathleen, Melissa Mariam, Morgan Michelle, Parker James, Tara, Markie and Cheyenne. They were blessed with eleven great grandchildren; Kailin, Ryder, Ashtyn, Rylee, Hailee, Paislee, Bentley, Tenley, Jolene, Hollie, Benjamin and two more on the way.
