Barbara Farrington

Barbara Elizabeth Farrington was born to the late Irvin and Margaret Salina Nutt, in Port Norris, New Jersey on May 7, 1946. Barbara was the youngest of four siblings: Irvin Jr, Gilbert Nutt, Edward Nutt Nolan, and Margaret Coursey-Offer.
Mrs. Barbara was born into a Christian home and she received Christ at the early age of twelve. She was educated in Cumberland County, New Jersey where she received her secondary education from Millville High School graduating in the class of 1964. She married Wilmer Farrington in 1965 and remained married for over 52 years before his passing in 2016. They traveled from New Jersey to Los Angeles, Ca, and eventually settled in Oceanside, CA in 1976. She attended Mira Costa College, in Oceanside, CA earning certificates in both Bookkeeping and Accounting. After 23 years Mrs. Barbara retired from the City of Oceanside's Building Department.
Mrs. Barbara was a technologically minded person. She purchased one of the first home computers in the late 1980s, mastering DOS and other computer applications and software programs that followed. She was a big proponent of continuous learning. Another passion of hers was HSN, she purchased a gadget for everything! At one point she purchased Patrick and Bobby watches similar to what is now widely known as an Apple Watch before Apple introduced it and they felt obligated to wear it.
Cooking was Mrs. Barbara’s love language. Countless relatives and friends all enjoyed her cooking. From appetizers to the main course, down to deserts, she was able to create mouthwatering meals like no other. She had an open-door policy and would invite anyone into her home and feed them. She would love on anyone who arrived on her doorstep, almost to a fault because they (husband and wife) still kept in touch with their children’s ex-girlfriends and boyfriends…..They had the same phone number (landline) for over 25 years and because they were so loved, they continued to get calls from everyone.
Mrs. Barbara was always willing to impart wisdom and life-changing advice. On occasion, the timing might have been off, for example, Mr. Mike during one of the family camping trips got some advice that he immediately acted upon which didn’t turn out very well. One thing for sure, we all had a different appreciation of spatulas and not wasting steak ever since. It brings laughter every time we reminisce.
Mrs. Barbara loved to dance and never missed an opportunity to shake a leg with her grandchildren. Another amazing and indelible mark Mrs. Barbara made was during Christmas. She would have a huge Christmas tree and packed with presents, one for everyone she knew. No one would be left out. Getting around that tree took some effort because it overflowed with the thoughtful gifts and gadgets she got just for you.
Mrs. Barbara was a strong person. People say children should never pass away before their parents. Three children preceded her in death, Maurice, LaToya, and Nakita; and most recently, her granddaughter, Lisa who all, unfortunately, passed away before their time. Mrs. Barbara remained the strong matriarch of the family during those hard times and with God's grace moved everyone forward.
Mrs. Barbara was very family-oriented. She loved to surround herself with family and friends while traveling, camping, and hosting numerous dinners so everyone would gather around to stay connected, grow, love one another and enjoy themselves. That's all she wanted.
After a short illness, Mrs. Barbara transitioned on September 28, 2021, with her loved ones by her side. She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Barbara leaves to cherish her memories three children, Patrick Farrington (Takae) of Escondido CA; Anna Farrington of Temecula, CA; and Adrian Bryant (Robert) of Fontana, CA; her grandchildren, Shaneka White of Hemet, CA; Darron Hamilton of San Diego, CA; Kymora Farrington of Temecula, CA; William Farrington of Escondido, CA; Brandon Farrington of Oceanside, CA; Joshua Bryant of Jacksonville, FL; Jordan Bryant of San Diego, CA; Jada Bryant of Fontana, CA; great-grandchildren; Jonathan Bell, Jerimiah Bell, Jayden Bell, Ezra Bryant, and Miles Bryant; cousins, nephews, nieces, and a whole host of friends.
