Dennis Allan Shannon

April 12, 1943 ~ August 7, 2025
DENNIS ALLAN SHANNON, age 82, passed peacefully on August 7, 2025.
Dennis was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 12, 1943. He was the youngest boy having four older brothers and one younger sister
He started working at a young age delivering papers. By sixteen he was working for Jewel Tea grocery store and dug ditches for the Chicago Gas Company during college summers. His first sales job was with Salerno Biscuit Co. and then M&M Mars Candy for 11 years. He retired from Franklin Templeton where he was a wholesaler teaching financial planners about Franklin products for 20 years. In 2005 when he retired, he turned his attention to bringing products to the marketplace and he still had faith that they would be on full display shortly.
Even with all his accomplishments in the business world, pastoring and teaching the Word of God to people was his most valued pursuit. He was constantly praying and sharing in our home church and school. He valued the teachers and children and wanted everything they did to be done in excellence as the Administrator. He made himself available weekly to be on campus to help any way it was needed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Patrick A. Shannon and Lorayne F. Shannon, by brothers William (Billy) Shannon, Robert (Bob) Shannon, and son John J. Napolitano. He is survived by wife, Judith R. Shannon, his brothers Patrick (Patty Ann) Shannon, Terry (Joanne) Shannon, and sister Maureen (Will) Alexander. His children Michael (significant other Toni Hundley) Napolitano, Jennifer (Brad) Fischbach, Michelle (Rich) Hylton, Carrie (significant other Quincy Fleming) Galloway, Tricia (significant other Steven Moore) Trujillo; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Judy I am heartbroken. It has been way too long since we have been in touch and now it is too late. Dennis was such an amazing person. Humble, funny, generous, empathetic, and joyous. He always brought light wherever he went. I think of my Cali days and many of the best memories have been with Dennis. I can not be there in person on the 6th to give you a hug so please accept it virtually. I do however plan to be on the live stream to celebrate one of my favorite people. A life well lived. I thank God that you were in my life and for the beautiful memories we had together. Our love to Judith and the family.
I will never forget meetng Dennis in the TKE house . His stature ( he was so tall) combined with his warm and genuinely welcoming attitude left a lasting impression. When I told him I was a “Canadian” we immediatley bonded into hockey and eventually played together at NIU. I still have a plack on my wall representing our chamionship year at the Elmhurst Ice Arena. Such fond memories.
