Irma Pearl Jeffery

irma jeffery
Lovingly known as "Aunt Pearl," Irma was born in Jackson, MS, to Otto and Elsie May (Johnson) Haley. After graduating from Jim Hill High School, she moved to California where she met and married Jesse Lee Jeffery. Irma attended vocational school to pursue a career in nursing and worked as a nurse for 2 years before giving it up due to the emotional stress associated with caring for the sick. She found out a prominent Aerospace company called STL (Space Technologies Lab) was hiring. Her sister, Martha, took her to apply for a training position at STL to assemble electronic boards to be utilized in spacecraft and satellites. She was hired on the spot due to her excellent work history as a nurse and her dependability. She excelled in her training and would continue what turned out to be a 30 year career in aerospace and TRW (STL became TRW in 1965). Irma started out as an electronic components assembly technician and ended up as an Electronics Aerospace Engineering Tech, specializing in ultra high technological assemblies. Her skill level was so high that she was granted top secret clearance. That level of security involved her with Prototype Engineering and the manufacturing of PC boards and ground systems. She did so well that Chief Engineers and Scientists would commission her to solve engineering problems for them as it related to her specialized task. Her excellent skills would take her across the world on specialized assignments and allow her to bring her husband, Jesse, with her. TWA treated her to first class and style everywhere they traveled. Some of those places were: Guam, Hawaii, Italy, Virginia Naval Station, North Carolina and Northern California. She was sent to teach military men and women on the usage and repair of the PC boards and ground systems TRW had built for them. Irma attended the Hawthorne Church of Christ before moving to Murrieta, CA, where she later joined the Murrieta Church of Christ and remained an active member. Irma was loved by all, no exaggeration, due to her kind heart. She was a loving wife, a wonderful and fun mother, the best grandmother and great-grandmother a child could have, and extremely kind to her nieces and nephews and siblings. She was very giving to others, never asking for anything in return. She was compassionate, and always made sure others were happy. She should and would bring a smile to a stranger's face. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Arleatha Green and and Martha Scott, followed by her brothers Otto Jr and James Haley. Irma leaves behind her husband, Jesse; son Glenn (Anita), daughter Pamela (Darryl) Ketchens, grandsons Dmitri and Denzel, granddaughters Eriel and Erin, great-granddaughter Demi, brothers Alton, Charles and Ray, sisters Josephine Graham and Lucille Cotton, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
