James Buonocore, 71, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at Murrieta Gardens, the residential facility he had been living in for three years. He had been on hospice care with a long term illness. Born in New York City in 1940, he was the first son of the late James and Josephine Buonocore. His family moved to Los Angeles when he was six years old. He attended San Pedro High School, and was a star athlete on the track team. At seventeen, he graduated early and entered the navy. He was stationed on the navy Destroyer, the USS Wedderburn. James met his wife shortly after leaving the navy. James had developed strong mechanical skills at a young age. He began his civilian career as a small machinery repairman, working for Burroughs Corporation. After many years of hard work and education, he became a troubleshooter and consultant. This led him to his long term career as President at PAC Foundries in Port Hueneme. James was always at the forefront of technology, which he had a passion for. He was able to retire early, and focus on traveling with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren. James was an avid chess player. He also loved to play tennis and golf. He was a generous provider, a devoted husband and father, and a happy man with a charismatic laugh that could fill a room. He loved to sing, to entertain, and spoil his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. James is survived by his brother, Richard Buonocore, and sister, Veronica Seright; his wife of 49 years, Carole Buonocore of Murrieta, Calif.; his sons, Scott Buonocore of Ventura, and James Buonocore of Las Vegas, Nev.; and daughters, Renee Sedoo of Groveland, Calif., and Kam Uhl of Murrieta, Calif. He has seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews and cousins. A service for James Buonocore will be held at England Family Mortuary in Temecula, Calif., at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, followed by a graveside service at Murrieta Cemetery. His family would like to thank the staff at Murrieta Gardens, and Hospice of the Valley for the compassionate care given over the years. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are invited to send donations to hospice at 25240 Hancock Ave, Suite 120 Murrieta, CA 92562.
