Jeremiah West Zapatier

jeremiah zapatier
Jeremiah West Zapatier passed away on February 20, 2025 in Menifee,CA at the age of 47.
He was born on October 5, 1977 to Segundo Zapatier and Jane Stegmayer in Orlando, FL. Jeremiah was the oldest of eight children and took his job as the oldest child and big brother seriously. Distance didn’t matter, he was this siblings fiercest protector. Growing up he attended Colonial High School. After high school, Jeremiah found jobs that ranged from construction to a bakery manager at a local Publix.
Jeremiah joined the United States Marine Corps in June 2001. After training, he was stationed at Mals-39 on Camp Pendleton in California where he built and repaired engines for Cobra helicopters. His unit was filled with many Marines that would become family over the years. He deployed three times and saw the world. Sky diving in Hawaii, getting a new tattoo in Asia, jumping off the side of an aircraft carrier for swim day, and trying foreign food, he truly found adventure. In 2007 Jeremiah was assigned to the CNAT unit where he taught new Marines how to build and repair the engines he worked on. Jeremiah left the Marine Corps in 2010 as a Staff Sergeant.
Jeremiah met his wife new years eve 2002, had their first date a couple days later and went through their first deployment together while dating in 2003. They were married before he left for his second deployment in July 2004 and recently celebrated their 20th anniversary. In their marriage, they welcomed two amazing children that helped create so many beautiful memories.
After his time in the Marine corps, Jeremiah went back to school and earned two associates degrees, a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. He was determined to show not only his children but his younger siblings that not only can it be done but he also challenged them to match or beat his level of education. While at school, Jeremiah worked with a couple of different companies in retail management. Many of those people talk about how he was one of their favorite bosses ever. He took his time and learning experiences in the Marine Corps to develop and become a fair manager that was well respected and loved by those that worked for him.
If you met Jeremiah you knew he had many hobbies. You could find him playing video games online with his son, brother, cousin, nephew and many friends. He had a love for good food. His cooking and grilling skills were beyond the basic home cook. If you spent any time with him you may have tried his homemade beer, barbecue or tortillas but his chocolate chip cookies were highly popular, frequently requested, and disappeared quickly. He was an avid football fan and was thrilled to see his Washington Commanders make it to the playoffs this year. He had a great love of music and you could almost always hear music playing in the house or car especially classic rock.
Jeremiah was preceded in death by his brother Eirick. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline; their two children Devon and Eleanor; Dad & Stepmother Segundo & Sandra Zapatier; Mother Jane Stegmayer; Siblings Nick, Jodie, Elliott, Kate & Samara; His nephews & niece Cylas, Derrick, Janyel & Jaelie. He also leaves behind a large group of friends that became family throughout his life.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Jeremiah, you always had a big heart and looked after me like a little sister. So many funny memories pop into my head when I hear your name. ❤️

  2. You were such a great Marine, friend, husband, and father. I can’t believe you are gone. You will be missed. Love you brother

  3. I am praying for your family that the lord will wrap his loving arms around you during this time.

  4. I love you Jeremiah. One of my BIGGEST honors is to say you were my big brother. I will forever cherish the memories we made, the laughter we shared and the lessons you taught me. Rest easy BIGZAP till we see each other again

  5. Im glad we had our one last Vegas trip, shooting hand cannons, drinking beer, swapping stories as we watched the sun come up. For the decades we have been brothers we may not always have gotten to hang out as much as we liked but when we did it was like there was never any missed time. I appreciate you for all the memories you left me with my friend. Rest in peace, I’ll see you on the other side someday so have some cold beers ready.

  6. Jeremiah, thank you for being such a great husband and father. I barely knew you but always respected you as Jacque was one best friends from grade school and high school. When you all met and married I was so happy, I loved all the photos shared. Rest easy and I know you will always watch over and protect your family.

  7. Big Zap, you were the epitome of a Marine’s Marine! I’ll forever cherish the memories of you! May you rest in peace and may God bless your family and be with them in this time of mourning. Til we meet again…Semper Fidelis,

    Matt “Woody” Woodall

  8. Losing Zap hits hard. We didn’t talk often, but times we reconnected, it felt like no time had passed. That’s the kind of bond you don’t find often.

He was a solid Marine and an even better man /dad / husband. I’m proud to have served with him.

To Jacque and the kids—my deepest condolences. You’re in our thoughts. He won’t be forgotten.

Semper Fi, brother and rest in peace.
