Jessie Carlene Murray

Jessie Carlene Murray, 76, of Temecula, passed away on July 15, 2023 at Generous Homecare of Murrieta. Her family was by her side.
Known to all as Carlene, she was born to Kenneth and Doris Yearwood (later Doris Van Leeuwen) on September 30, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York. After the family moved to the west coast, Carlene graduated from Washington High School of Fremont, California in 1964.
She married Charles (Chuck) Moore in 1965, and they lived together in Alameda for three years before following different paths while remaining friends. Carlene is survived by one child: Denelle Pritchard, of Temecula. She is also survived by two grandchildren whom she adored, Emma and Cole Pritchard, son-in-law Andrew Pritchard, and by her two brothers Barry Van Leeuwen of Calabash, North Carolina and Don Van Leeuwen of Fremont, California.
Carlene worked for many years in the insurance industry, most notably for State Farm Insurance in Rohnert Park. Her friends there described her as a fun to be around, vibrant, stylish, a great friend, and someone who cared about the customers she served. In retirement, Carlene lived with Denelle and her family, and she passed peacefully to the words “We love you” and the comforting touch of a beloved daughter.
A Celebration of Life is being planned and details will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made in Carlene’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, or to the ASPCA, which she regularly supported for her deep love of animals.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to England Family Mortuary, Inc.
So many great memories, watching her engage with the soap opera characters or our many conversations about the next BOGO sale at Payless shoes, love for purses, jewelry and all things beautiful just like her!
“who will get the final rose 🌹” this new upcoming season of Bachelor would’ve been your favorite, the Golden Bachelor.
Until I see you again, much love.
Denelle, Andrew, Emma and Cole my condolences you’re in my heart 🙏
Every blessing
Jim and I are ever so thankful she was instrumental in our meeting. Although the years separated us in distance we have great memories of her and we think about you and her often !
I met Carlene at Fireman’s Fund in San Diego in the mid 2000’s. We enjoyed lunch, walks and many talks. She was such a kind and sweet person. I introduced Carlene to my mom and we all had lunch together in Coronado, it was a fun and lovely day. I will always remember Carlene and her love for her daughter and grandchildren. She’s a special lady who will never be forgotten.
