Lorna A. Llavore

Lorna Alaan Llavore was born September 8, 1947 in Mindanao, Philippines. She was born to Teresa Alburo Alaan and Alfonso Alaan. She grew up in Mindanao and later attended high school and College in Manila.
She had a good friend Rosario who had a handsome brother, Meliton Llavore, who caught her eye. As her friendship with him grew, she eventually fell in love with him. She moved to the United States with her family. Mel soon followed and they were reunited. They married in Los Angeles on June 3, 1972. They settled in the suburbs of Northern Los Angeles to raise a family. They had two children, Emily and Michael. Lorna and Mel afforded them every opportunity to have a good education and to be able to participate in sports and the Arts. They built within them a foundation of faith and love for God. Surrounded by extended family, Lorna instilled within them the ability to laugh, love, and enjoy life especially with family and friends. Her 5 grandchildren were a great source of joy. Nathan, Noah, Erica, Luke, and Ella. She enjoyed watching them grow up and would encourage them to pursue a career based on their abilities, gifts, or interests. She pushed one to be a doctor, the other a graphic designer, another a lawyer, and then the other a mayor, jewelry maker or a Jazz dancer. She just wanted them to reach for the stars.
Lorna was caring, funny, spunky, and always ready to have a good time. She enjoyed dancing, going out to eat, spending quality time with family and being in fellowship with her prayer group communities. She gave of her time and energy to serving God in church ministries, family, and especially the love of her life, Mel. She was a faithful person who immersed herself in prayer alongside her husband. We will miss her joyful spirit, silliness, hugs, and her amazing, beautiful smile. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on in our hearts.
