Surrounded by loving family, Murrieta resident, Mariano Alviar, Jr. died at home on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the age of 86. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mariano and Edith; sisters Margaret Flores and Vivian Valade; brothers-in-law Cheno Flores and Richard Rogriguez; and son-in-law Robert Laughlin. Mr. Alviar is survived by his wife, Janelle; daughters Michaelle (Harry) Weinger and Marchelle Laughlin; brother Rudy; sister Evelyn; grandchildren Christian, Adam, Cristeal, and Connor and great-grandchild Koi. Mariano was a master outboard motor mechanic and served with honor in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S Missouri and was present during the signing of the peace treaty with Japan in Tokyo Bay to end World War II. His hobbies included ballroom and adagio dance, ice skating, bowling, speed-boating (he built a 50' cement sailboat) cabinet making, stained glass artistry, making window, door and cabinet fronts. A celebration of his life will be held at England Family Mortuary on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 4:00pm.
