Martha Jean Schafer

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Martha (Mickey) Schafer (90) of Waseca, Minnesota. She was called home to heaven on November 29, 2023. As a young woman Mickey bravely left the life she knew behind to travel out west and establish her life in California. Through her church group she met the love of her life Robert (Bob) Schafer and they shared 57 wonderful years together until his passing in 2011. Mickey was genuine, loving, independent and deeply rooted in her faith. In death she is preceded by her father Clyde Ingram, mother Dorothy Nelson Ingram, husband (Bob Schafer). From being raised an only child, Mickey was fiercely proud of her greatest legacy, her large family. She is survived by her 4 kids; Dave(Maria) Schafer, Rob(Brenda) Schafer, Alicia(Nick) Reyes and Jim(Jill) Schafer; 11 grandkids Andrea(Ian), Mike(Matt), Tim, Stacey(Craig), Chris(Megan), Wendy(Pete), Nichole(AJ), Jacob(Sam), Tanner, Taylar and Mackenzie; and 8 great grandchildren; Austin, Conner, Aaron, Lillyanne, Ashlyn, Trevor, Olivia and Ava. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Mickey will be deeply missed but we find comfort in celebrating the memories of the long and full life she lived, and knowing she is reunited with our Heavenly father and all the loved ones who have preceded her.

All funeral services will be held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church on Wednesday December 6^th, 2023. The Rosary will begin at 9am with Funeral, Internment and Reception to follow.
