Nahida Khasho

nahida khasho

Nahida Khasho, age 79, of Menifee, CA, went home to be with the Lord on December 1, 2025. With her passing, we remember a vibrant soul who lived with fullness, fun, and fierce love for all those around her.

Born on December 9, 1945 in Jerusalem, Palestine, Nahida was the daughter of the late Mattia Abdelmalak Sabbara and Emily Sabbara (Abu Akle).

She married the love of her life, Habib Khasho, on September 10, 1967, and together they immigrated to the United States on March 21, 1968, seeking a brighter future for their growing family. They eventually made their home in the suburbs of Chicago, IL.

With only a high school education, Nahida built a decades-long career in the insurance industry, working full time for over 35 years and retiring as a supervisor. She was proud to support her husband and two sons through college, often putting their needs ahead of her own without hesitation.

Nahida had a true zest for life and unashamedly wore her heart on her sleeve. She was known for her bold spirit, her quick humor, and her love of helping others. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, and grandmother, with a personality as big as her heart. She cared selflessly for her own mother and sisters during their final years, and her devotion to family never wavered.

Whether she was hosting extended family, a sleepover with her grandchildren, playing an intense game of Monopoly, or preparing food for a family gathering, Nahida filled every space with laughter and love. She enjoyed storytelling, card games, travel, dogs, and most of all, time with her children and grandchildren.

Her Catholic faith was a compass she devoutly practiced in her own personal way. Nahida spent her later years praying the rosary and watching televised Mass, just as her mother had done before her.

In addition to her parents, Nahida was preceded in death by her brothers Habib, Abboud, and Ben, and sisters: Terese, Clemence, Renee, and Nuha (Nahida’s twin sister).

She is survived by her husband Reverend Protodeacon Habib Khasho, her son Joseph Khasho and daughter-in-law Laura Khasho, her son Ramsey Khasho and daughter-in-law Monique Khasho, and loving grandchildren Evan Khasho, Gabriella Khasho, Christian Khasho, and Alexa Khasho. She is also survived by her brother Emil Sabbara. Additionally, Nahida is remembered by many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her.

Viewing and funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5 at Virgin Mary Melkite Catholic Church with Reverend Father Paul Fallouh and Rt. Reverend James Babcock. Viewing begins at 10am and funeral service at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Nahida’s memory to:
