Tyrone Moore Sr, Los Angeles Born, Alaska Raised, Comic Reader, Star Trek fanatic, a ladies’ man, usually the tallest man in the room at 6’7, both a garden and plant lover, once a coke cowboy turned into and bible thumping God lover, always smiling, father of 3 sons, and a loving grandfather, died on Tuesday, February 14th 2023.

Tyrone Moore was born to Lonnie and Alice Moore in Los Angeles, CA on October 11th, 1956. He is survived by his sons Conan, Tyrone, and Benjamin Moore. His niece and nephew Jessica and Lionel Moore. His daughters-in-law Kristen Moore, Blanca Moore, and Elaine Moore. And plenty of grandchildren, who are Caleb, Isaiah, Bryanna, Zach, Naraya, Seth, Trey, Olivia, Penelope, Zhalia, Zorion, Tyrone the III, Amaziah, and Cassandra. Although born in Los Angeles he was raised in Alaska in a God-fearing Christian household, which beliefs and love would carry him through a life riddled with challenges. His life was defined by how he cared for family that needed additional care and love.

Tyrone’s typical day would be waking up checking on his elderly parents and his brother Curtis to make sure their mornings started off great. Mid-day after making his run to Wal-Mart, his focus would be on tending to the garden, where he would plant flowers, bushes, climb trees, and sometimes fall out of them. While gardening, he would blast his Paul Simon and maybe some 2 Pac. After checking on his boys either playing basketball or video games he would often cook up some gourmet chili dogs for his sons. Every day he would study the bible every weekday at 5pm while watching a bible study show called Shepherd’s Chapel. Then to wind the night down he would watch tv with his boys, read comics, with incense filling the room.

Tyrone in his younger years was a ladies’ man. Being six feet and seven inches, with an infectious laugh made it easy for him to attract attention. His main squeeze Ruby Moore, a young lady mixed with Eskimo & Irish a little over 40 years ago connected w/ Tyrone Sr and they had 3 sons. He taught all his boys how to play basketball, love the value of family, and listen to great music.

Tyrone Moore Sr took fashion cues from no one. He would walk into a supermarket with cut jean shorts a few inches above his knees, laced with a see through dress shirt showing off his man boobs, dripped with XJ one millions that cost a whopping ten dollars. He lived vicariously through all the famous cooks on the cooking channel. Now you must hear about his taste for music, it was like his fashion sense! Tyrone loved all types of music, and he didn’t care who you were or who was listening, he would make you respect his choices for his ear stimulus. However, the one thing that the music all hand in common is that the music he listened to gives off an energy of fun, focus, and goosebumps. His mixtape consists of Morris day and the time, some Prince, maybe some ZZ top, Depeche Mode, Doobie Brothers, 2nd to None, Ernie Eisley, Paul Simon, Thin Lizzy, Daryl Hall & John Oates, and 2 Pac. He also absolutely loves comics and until the end of his life he encouraged his sons to live life with a wild imagination. Tyrone Sr, he had a collection of well over 5000 comic books in the 1980s-2000s. And until this day his sons love comics.

Tyrone loved helping his sons build forts in the living room, sled on the coolest trails, and teaching his kids about how cool it was to listen to hip-hop, classic rock, and classical music. In 1995, ultimately Lonnie and Alice chose a random city called Oceanside to move from Alaska, because Oceanside was in between LA and San Diego. In 1995 Tyrone Moore gave his life to God and started learning about Jesus for himself personally. From this he quit taking hard drugs and started slowly becoming a person dedicated to deeply loving people. During the 2000s as his father Lonnie and mother Alice were getting older Tyrone took care of his parents with the highest of love and dignity. And when Alice Moore passed away a decade ago, Tyrone knew Curtis needed his care and love. When Conan, Tyrone, and Ben decided to have families of their own Tyrone became a grandfather to more than 14 grandchildren. Each one of his grandkids had a unique relationship with him, he had a deep connection with a few of his grandkids from the family of Conan, Tyrone, and Ben Moore.

After Curtis passed away, it’s as if Tyrone knew 75% of his job was done in life, and the last 25% of his years were now dedicated to loving his grandkids. Once Tyrone Moore’s kidney started to fail in 2021, he knew that his time was limited, so he spent his last days on earth stocking up on Walmart groceries, laughing and cracking jokes while binge watching star trek next generation and marvel movies. On 1/15/2023 Tyrone Moore caught pneumonia, although he ultimately fought the infection the Carbon Dioxide damaged his already weak lungs to a point where it was tough for him to inhale the right amount of oxygen and expel enough Co2 to keep him alive. On 2/14/23 Benjamin Moore saw that Tyrone Moore was not as responsive as the day before, and both Benjamin Moore and Tyrone Moore could sense his life passing on. Then around 6pm on 2/14/23, Tyrone Moore went to heaven peacefully.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to England Family Mortuary, Inc.
