Hector R. Valdivia Obituary

Hector Raul Valdivia, 72, beloved father, grandfather, hero and friend returned to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 30, 2020 in Wildomar, CA.
Hector was born to Victoria Calzada and Juan(John)Lara Valdivia on January 27, 1948 in EAST LA! Hector enjoyed singing, playing guitar, gymnastics and spending time with siblings, family and friends, especially the Sesma’s. He attended Humphrey’s Avenue Elementary school, Griffith Jr. High school and graduated from Garfield High school.
After graduation, Hector was drafted where he served in the U.S. army from 1968-1969. He was awarded 3 Purple Heart Medals, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal as well as a Sharpshooter(M-14) Badge. He was honorably discharged/retired on 12/9/1969.
Hector loved his country!
Returning from the war in 1969 he fell in love and married Nancy Sesma, the girl next door. They were married on 11/21/1970. They had 3 children. Hector Jason, Jacob John and Marie Star. They lived in East La, El Sereno, and Ontario. Hector was an amazing mechanic and got several certifications in his career. He took management and customer services classes as well. Later he opened a shop with his son Jacob.  Jacob went home to be with the Lord on 1/20/2014. Jacob was his best friend and it was a difficult time for the family. Hector loved his brothers, sisters, his grandchildren and family. He left us with a lot of wonderful memories, jokes and laughs!
Hector was a self-taught guitarist. He started playing the guitar at young age and even made himself one. That prompted his dad to buy one for him. His dad bought him is first guitar and amp from the second hand store. He played for school dances, garage parties and eventually played in numerous bands such as the Plads, Sensations, Last Rites, The Juice, and LA’s Promise. He also enjoyed playing hymns and the blues! He also played for anyone who requested for family gatherings, parties and memorials. Towards the end of his life he would play music for the VETS at the Long Beach Memorial Hospital in the cafeteria. He was also an advocate to help many veterans get support and benefits they deserved.  He was very passionate about his Veteran family!
Hector had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He wanted everyone to know about his Lord and Savior. One of his favorite verses is: Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes through the Father except through me.” John 14:6
Hector is survived by his brothers: Ruben, Arnold, Willy and his sisters: Elise, Rita and Pat, his children: Jason, Star and Vince, and his 8 grandchildren: Tristan, Trinity, Noah, Kambria, Kayla, Vincent, Jayleen and Cash.
His family and friends will miss him greatly.
