Obituary for Romayo Santos Espina (Jojo) March 10, 1963 - March 30,2021

Romayo “Jojo” Espina, an IT support technician and resident of San Marcos, CA, lost his battle with cancer on March 30, 2021, at the age of 58.

Jojo is survived by his mother, Amelia Espina; his sister, Rosalie Espina (Patricio); his brother, Rommel Espina; his nieces, Nicole Espina (Hamilton), and Jaidyn Patricio; and his nephew, Andrew Patricio; and his grandnieces, Aria Hamilton, Makenna Hamilton and Cayla Hamilton. He is predeceased by his father, Romeo J. Espina.

Jojo was born in the Philippines on March 10, 1963 to Romeo and Amelia Espina. In 1970, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in California. He was a “techie” at heart and worked in IT support throughout his adult life. Performing this role, he was able to spend his time doing what he loved most; interacting with people and working with technology. He enjoyed technology so much that he spent his free time gaming and working on PC repair.

Jojo was devoted to his family and work. He loved spending time with his family, and was always full of happiness. Jojo was a truly generous and giving person, always put the happiness and wellbeing of others before his own personal interests.

Toward the end of his life, he faced many health challenges. Throughout those battles, he remained positive and hopeful, and kept a positive outlook on life. He continued to work in his IT role, all the way to the end of his life; always wanting to contribute and be part of his team at SeaSpine.

Jojo always had a smile on his face and was always ready to help others. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

A memorial service is scheduled on Monday, April 12, 2021, at England Family Mortuary from 4PM to 8PM. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church at 10AM. Rev John Wagner, Pastor Emeritus, will preside over the mass.
