Alvin Jesus Barbes, 70 years old, of Lake Elsinore – CA, passed away on February 06, 2025 after complications of a stroke he suffered in 2020.

Alvin was born on April 20 th , 1954 to Haydee and Jesus Barbes in Santa Isabel – Puerto Rico. Alvin moved to New York when he was a child. Alvin graduated from Stony Brook College in Long Island with a biology major and an arts minor.

Alvin joined Beckman Coulter as a field service engineer in the mid 80’s serving the 5 boroughs in New York, and in 2000 he moved to California. In 2014 Alvin transferred to SCIEX where he worked until 2020.

Alvin was well known by his work ethics and dedication to his customers and peers, infectious laugh, sense of humor and his love of cars.

Alvin is survived by his children Melaney and Jesse.

Services will be held at England Family Mortuary on February 22nd at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Stroke Foundation – https://americanstroke.org/donate/.

  5. Alvin was a great person and an awesome cousin. My memories of him are of a fun and loving guy. I still remember our times with Uncle Pete having margaritas in Redondo Beach. Alvin taking his time visiting my Dad at the hospital showing his respect and how much he cared for his Tío Tony. Alvin attending my grad school graduation and years later, meeting my daughter Alex. He always showed up with a big smile and a kind heart.

    Alvin, you were larger than life and I am going to miss you.

I cherish the time we spent together with Uncle Pete and my sister Maribelle while I was doing my medical internship, and those weekends when we would meet at Uncle Pete’s home. I also smile when I think about our inside joke about the great margarita’s night.
