Betty Jo Wray, 88, died at her home in Murrieta, California on March 3, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Betty was born on December 31, 1922 in Bethel Grove, Arkansas, one of 9 children. She grew up in Farmington, Arkansas, and moved to California in 1941 after graduating from high school. There, she again met and then married her high school sweetheart, Marshall Wray on December 5, 1941. They settled in Norwalk, California, making a home and raising their family during the next 48 years. In 1989, Betty and Marshall retired to their home in Murrieta, California.She is survived by her husband Marshall Wray, to whom she was married for nearly 70 years, her sons Michael Wray (Patricia), of Temecula, Jim Wray, (Susie) of Nipomo, Jon Wray (Donna) and Tim Wray, both of Murrieta. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren as well as sisters Martha, Darlene and Wanda Sue. She was preceded in death by 5 other brothers and sisters.A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 10 at the Murrieta Church of Christ, 24750 Lincoln Avenue, Murrieta, CA 92562, at 10:30. Interment was at the Murrieta Cemetery, Murrieta, California.We all loved her very much. Services: 10:30AM at Murrieta Church of Christ on Thursday, March 10th, 2011 (map/driving directions)

  1. Mrs. Wray was my summer grandmother and of course Mr. Wray was always grand dad…. While I spent the summers as a young girl with Uncle Jim and Aunt Susie, Mrs. Wray always treated me as one of hers. Teaching us how to cook turnovers and of course Sunday school every sunday with fresh orange wedges. Such a kind, loving person, we will miss her and always remember her.
