Bill was always in our lives as we grew up. We just always knew He was Dads best friend. Now that I am older I see how important it is to keep your friends. Dad and Bill were a good example of that through out all these years. Thank you for that.
Bill was my first born nephew and for many years we were very close – he having been only a few years younger than I, we played together as children. He will be sorely missed by me and I extend my utmost sympathy to his beloved wife, children and siblings.
Bill, 1 yr. ago today you went to be with the Lord. I’m so happy you were a Christian & I’ll see you in heaven someday. THANKS! for being a Wonderful, Caring husband. Our 491/2 yr. marriage brings happy memories. Miss You! See you iny heaven. Love, your wife, Carol
Going to be leaving for Temecula in about 45 minutes. I am not going to say goodbye ,but see you later, Brother. His leaving has left me feeling empty and sad, but I know that his pain and suffering are gone. Knowing that he is with Mom and Dad and Mimmie and Papa makes it a little easier to let him go. I love you, Bill and will see you again someday. Love you with all my heart, Jeanetta
How much I miss you already,Where did the time go, just yesterday we were so young, argueing over something silly , tattleing on each other, me locking you out of the house ,you banging on the door, and when I yelled at you you banged on the kitchen window and broke it .That ended our fight and we both cried and were so worried what mom and dad were going to say and do to us .So many memories,so much love for each other, growing up and growing old with you has been a blessing and this is not the end of the story. I’ll see you again soon and it will be glorious, mom an dad mimmie an pappa, and all the others, what a time that will be. Till then, I love you and miss you, your sistercwf
I didn’t get a chance to see Uncle Bill as much as I would’ve liked to throughout the years. I always knew how close he and my dad (Dick) were and how close he was with my brothers (Len) family. I remember as a kid going to Bill and carols house in the Bay Area and how much I loved their house. They always had hamsters and their beautiful dog, that was somewhat mean (laughing) but it was always so homey there. Bills study was full of books and always smelled like a cigar. Uncle Bill was such an interesting and complex man. He was always gentle and had such a great sense of humor. Several months ago he and Carol came to Modesto and I got to go to dinner with them and Joanne and Wally, then went back to Joannes house and spent more time with them. I am very grateful for that evening. we had such a nice time and I feel I got to know them, especially Carol, on a whole new level. I so wish i could’ve been there today but my thoughts and my prayers are with you all. I am grateful to my Lord Jesus that because He has saved me I too will be with you again Uncle Bill! What a glorious thought and comfort that is. I love you and will miss you. To the boys and Carol, I have been praying and look forward to seeing you soon. Love, Carey
I have lots of good memories of my Uncle Bill. I used to stay at my cousin’s house a lot during summer vacations and I always had such a good time. Uncle Bill always seemed to be in a good mood and made sure my cousin Donald was nice to me during my stay! My last visit with him was four years ago when my family and I were in S. CA for vacation and I was taken aback to see how much Bill looked like Papa! It was great to talk with him and I’m sorry I will never have that chance again. He was a great Uncle, father and husband and I’m going to miss him dearly! Love you Uncle Bill!
I have so many great memories of when Bill came to visit us and he and Dad would be up all night sometimes talking laughing and just plain enjoying each other.Dad always said that if he had a brother it was Bill. They become friends as little kids and stayed friends their whole lives. Best friends forever! My love and thoughts go out to the Hazelwood family during this sad time. Love, Miki
I’m so sad to hear that my Uncle has passed away. He was always fun to talk to, never without anything to say. The last time I saw him was in 2010 when my daughter Grace & I met up with Bill, Carol, Becky & Jeanetta (who were visiting them at the time) in Carlsbad at a little pizza parlor that was one of Bills favorite spots in the area. We all had so much fun that day, laughing, eating and catching up. I remember thinking how much my uncle really meant to me. Although my heart is heavy I know I will see him again in heaven. For now I’m certain he’s having one of those “Hazelwood” reunions, out of pain, anxious for all of us to be where there is no more pain or sorrow. I love you Uncle Bill, see you soon. . . Linda
Our family will sure miss Dad’s old pal Bill. My heart hurts for your loss.We will always treasure the memories of such a long friendship Bill and Dad had. Love to all the family, Alison
So Long Old Pal—- Bill ( who had a phemnominal memory) said our friendship began when he transferred into Lincoln Elem. School mid semester. We were 8 yrs old. I had won a bike riding contest & was “king” for a day. Bill had to bow to me & he disliked me immediately ! But we walked home the same way and he said I waited for him one day & we became friend’s. Bill was the epitome of what a true friend is. He was always there for me . When I was going through troubled marriages he & Carol were the example of what rock solid marriage should be..I always admired Bills work ethic , his money management, etc..I think it was always me that borrowed nickels from him when we were kid’s ! Bill was always prepared for any eventuality. He did tell me that he was glad that my ‘impractical’ idea led to us quitting our jobs when we were 18 and traveling for 7 wks. All over the U.S.. Whether we lived near or far,it was a comfort to me just knowing he was there. We could spend hrs. Smoking cigars and talking about everything & nothing. I can’t imagine not having Bill in my life.
