Billy Drew Porter

U.S. Veteran Billy lost his battle with cancer on Monday, September 14, 2009, but was lovingly surrounded by his family at the time of his death. Billy was born in Paris, Arkansas and lived in Temecula, CA, for the past 21 years. Billy served for three years in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was awarded the China Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He retired from Hughes Aircraft Company in Long Beach, CA after 29 years of service.

Billy is survived by his wife, Marian J. Porter of Temecula, CA, his son, Robert Drew Porter and his wife Mary Ann Porter of Temecula, CA; his son, Phillip Dean Porter and his wife Rosalie Porter of Temecula, CA; his step daughter from his previous marriage to Lola I. (Porter) Rohrer, Glenda Butcher and her husband Steven L. Butcher, Sr., of Burbank, CA; his brother Jackie Joe Porter and his wife, Paula Porter, of Rudy, Arkansas; his brother Bobby Porter and his wife, Debbie Porter, of Chanhassen, Minnesota; his sister-in-law and brother in law, Verna and Bill Sandusky, of Palmdale, CA.

Billy was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Jackson Porter, his mother, Lillie Mae (Stewart) (Porter) Harris; his step-mother, Nettie (Fisher) Porter; his step-mother and mother-in-law, Verna E. (MacKenzie) Porter, his step-daughter from his previous marriage to Lola (Porter) Rohrer, Brenda York, and her husband David York, and his step-sisters, Mildred Franklin and Betty Cummings, of Coal Hill, AR.

Billy is also survived by his grandchildren, Nathan York, Peter �Drew� York, Anthony Porter, Daniel Levesque, Drew Porter, Erik Porter, Steven Butcher, Jr., Christopher Butcher, Kevin Butcher, Amy Porter, Kathryn Porter, and a number of great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at England Family Mortuary located at 27135 Madison Avenue, Temecula , CA 92590. Graveside service will follow at Temecula Public Cemetery located at 41911 C Street, Temecula, CA.
