Diane Pinkard

Diane Sue Pinkard was born in Oxnard, CA and grew up on the beach in the Channel Islands area where she attended Hueneme High School, graduating in 1972. She later resided in Camarillo and San Diego before moving to Temecula in 1989. She earned an accredited degree in American Sign Language and volunteered for the Riverside School for the Deaf for many years. Diane used her creative and artistic talents in a number of business ventures, including a home stenciling business and Home and Away Sports. She had a passion for quilting and created many beautiful pieces for family, friends, and charities. She volunteered her time and talents to local charities, especially those that supported youth programs. Her love for family and friends was her greatest joy, and she was always there to support and encourage her children while standing beside her husband in his executive career. She loved to travel and Hawaii was one of her favorite destinations for family vacations. Daine was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1984, but was able to overcome it until it returned in 2001. She continued to battle the disease for 12 more years while never letting it define her, and inspiring many others who learned of her perseverance. She had a gift for making other patients feel better about their situation and encouraged them to never give up hope. Diane is survived by her husband of 40 years, Carl Pinkard; daughter Deanna and son-in-law Steve Meier; son Carl and daughter-in-law Katy Pinkard; grandchildren Maya and Natalie Pinkard and Gavin and Damaian Meier; two sisters Becky Kelley and Carla Talley; two brothers Jeff Wilson and Richard Wilson. She is predeceased by her brother Mark Wildon. Our beloved wife, mother, and 'Grandma Di Di' will be missed and cherished forever. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations are made in her name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
