December 2, 1965 ~ November 26, 2022
Our beloved, Glenn Patrick Conant departed this Earthly life peacefully in his sleep at the comfort of his home in Canyon Lake, CA next to his adored wife, Mellanie on Saturday, November 26th 2022- he was 56 years young.
Glenn Patrick Conant was born in Los Angeles, CA on December 2nd, 1965 to his father, Patrick and his late mother, Estelle. He was the eldest of five siblings; Eric Conant, Yvette Severin, Brian Conant and Antoinette Conant.
Glenn embraced utilizing his vast God-given gifts early in his life; he was a talented self-taught artist and musician-notably, playing the bass guitar in his high school rock band, “Prowler”, alongside his best friend’s.
His love for music extended to all genres from jazz to rock and everything in between. If he wasn’t playing or listening to music, the voice of Vin Scully could be heard echoing throughout Glenn’s childhood home as baseball was a staple growing up, specifically watching the Los Angeles Dodgers. Glenn loved to share childhood memories, and would often speak of some of his favorites including; times he raised pigeons and trained them to return home after being released, along with his family’s nightly routine of crowding in their parent’s room to recite the rosary…these were merely a couple of the endless memories Glenn would eagerly share from his childhood- as his Mother, Father, Brother’s and Sister’s meant the world to him.
Glenn wasn’t just a hero to his family and friends, but to our great nation, where he proudly served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electronic Flight Control Structural Hydraulic Engineer. Unfortunately, in 1985 on his deployment during the Persian Gulf War, Glenn was involved in a traumatic accident on the USS Ranger’s flight deck, sustaining multiple injuries to
his head. He was airlifted to the Philippines and hospitalized for months until he was transferred to the Balboa Military Hospital in San Diego, CA to continue treatment and recovery.
He then returned to Naval Auxiliary Air Station Miramar in San Diego, CA where he resumed work, and his life would be forever changed as he was succumbed to constant pain from his injuries. No matter how much pain and suffering Glenn endured, he would never give up and instilled the belief to, “always do your best and give your 100%”.
In late 1986, Glenn met Mellanie Rose Goren, and from that moment, the two were inseparable. It was the type of love story written for the movies. Their whirlwind romance catapulted after their eight-month long courtship, which led to a pleasant surprise when they found out they were pregnant. That came merely two weeks before Glenn left for a year long deployment. Breaking the news to his devout Catholic parent’s was the first of many obstacles that the couple would have to endure.
With open arms, the family enthusiastically welcomed the news with one stipulation, that the dynamic duo were to be married before the birth of their baby.
February 26, 1987 in a quaint chapel nestled in San Dimas, CA the love struck couple exchanged vows.
In true cinematic fashion, upon his return home from deployment-Glenn descended off the docked ship, and was welcomed by a live television broadcast which captured the beautiful
reunion and the heartfelt moment as Mellanie embraced Glenn and introduced their t two month old daughter, Amanda. The couple later welcomed two son’s, Jeremy and Davide which completed their “fab-five”.
Following Glenn’s honorable discharge from the military, he decided to change careers and accomplish a life-long dream to work in the Television industry. He graduated from UCLA extension with a degree in engineering. It was while he was employed at various television stations and on show’s; including NBC’s, “Jay Leno” in Los Angeles and KTLAS Channel 8 in Las Vegas NV, that he found his passion as a satellite engineer. He earned the esteemed title of being the “SNG Engineer Satellite Uplinker of the year” For CBS/Loral Skynet-two years in a row. He then went on to continue his passion at the largest Christian television station, Trinity Broadcasting Network in Tustin, CA. Glenn’s work ethic and perseverance was a true testament to him as a devoted husband and father-always putting his family first, to ensure they were taken care of, while battling health issues.
After the accident while in the military, Glenn’s health never recovered and inadvertently led to countless surgeries on his ears along with additional health issues. Through 2020-2022 Glenn suffered five total heart attacks and five strokes, along with fracturing his hip. While he miraculously came out from the multiple heart attacks and strokes unscathed-still completely coherent, his body and head still needed recovery and as always, Glenn embraced the challenge, as he had with every difficulty-to never quit.
Within those two years, Glenn would spend days weeks and ultimately year-long hospital stays in hopes to heal and return home.
During what would be his last and final hospital stay-Glenn was able to train, learn and fall in love with a new skill in Forex Trading. He spent countless hours on the charts with his son in law, Dominique and daughter, Amanda via video chat. He proudly referred to himself as “Papa Pips” and often spoke about accomplishing his dreams of moving to La Jolla, CA with Mellanie, where they would spend the rest of their days watching sunsets, dancing his notorious “two step”, Scorpions or Iron Maiden playing, smoking cognac dipped cigars, while snacking on Braunschweiger and Cheeze-It’s. Throughout the suffering, pain and illnesses-Glenn never stopped dreaming and inspired everyone he met along the way.
Glenn was the man who motivated, mentored and protected. He lived his life by Bruce lee’s, “Martial way”, and instilled the principles of honor and values to his wife and children. He raised his daughter and son’s to be strong and would often say, “don’t ever start a fight, but you better finish it”. Glenn was someone to everyone, with a list of nicknames including, “Glennie” to his beloved wife, “Daddy” to his daughter, “Pops” to his son’s, and “Papi” and “Papa Pips”, to his grandchildren along with “Mo-Rock”, “Possum Stew” to some friend’s, “Get it Glenn”, during his “Prowler” days, and lastly, another nickname that can only be repeated within his military crew from when he served in the Navy.
Glenn was a kind, hard-working, generous, chivalrous man who took pride in being punctual, always being a man to his word, having a clean workstation and anyone who knew him knew he didn’t like his hands dirty.
Glenn was a devoted man of God who was proud to be apart of the Knight’s of Columbus and spoke highly of having his father, Patrick as his sponsor.
In his final days, Glenn returned home after a year in the hospital. Much like his return from deployment while in the Navy, he was greeted by the warm embrace from his storybook sweetheart, Mellanie. There might not have been a live broadcast of this reunion, but a special introduction took place nevertheless. After seeing his new grand baby via video chat, he was finally able to meet, kiss and hold his nearly eight month old granddaughter, Khrysara Rose for the first time-as well as congratulate his daughter, whom he called , “Pumpkin” on her first child for the first time, in person.
Glenn also shared tender moments with his two other grandchildren, Liliana and Davide Jr. In addition, Glenn was able to watch his son Jeremy’s winning fight-one that he had always dreamed of witnessing, as well as celebrating his youngest son, Davide’s advancement to Sergeant in the Army.
Moreover, Glenn came home just in time for Thanksgiving. Since it had been back and forth hospital visits, and two years since they
were able to celebrate Thanksgiving together.
Two days later, on November 26 2022, Glenn informed his wife and son Jeremy -who was on the phone at the time, that he wanted to rest. He told his longtime soulmate, Mellanie that he loved her, gave her a kiss and laid back in bed. He took what would be his last breath as he never woke from that most peaceful nap.
Glenn was not just a good man, he was a great man. He loved his family more than anything, and to his family-he was everything. He will be greatly missed by many. In the words of the late and exceptional Glenn:
“I love you yesterday, I love you today, I love you tomorrow and I love you forever after that”.
