February 27, 1943 ~ August 7, 2021
James (Jim) Weinandy, a proud veteran of the US Navy, passed away on August 7th, 2021. The son of Richard and Wilma Weinandy was born in Tiffin, OH on February 27th, 1943. He attended the Ohio University where he received a BBA in Accounting and Pre-Law in 1965. Jim enlisted in the US Navy the same year, where he was valued and served his country honorably as a Lieutenant during the Vietnam War. As part of his service, Jim led a newly formed Task Force conducting river raid operations for PT boats in the I Corps area. After receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1969, Jim had several positions in Commercial Real Estate and the Financial Industry where he ultimately founded his own Financial Consulting firm in San Diego, CA.
Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and would never miss a moment to see them when possible. He adored living in California with his beloved wife, traveling, taking long walks, scenic drives, and landscaping. Additionally, Jim generally loved reading and exploring new things about life on a daily basis, especially when it came to technology.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Linda; his stepson, Jason, his siblings, John Weinandy, Richard Weinandy, Thomas J. Weinandy, and Patricia Bour, along with their spouses, children, and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held between 2-4 PST, Monday, August 16th, 2021, at England Family Mortuary located at 27135 Madison Ave, Temecula, CA 92590.
I miss my brother, Jim, so much. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. Our daughter, Julie, died of cancer in 2010 at the age of 39, leaving two little girls ages 8 and 10. When Jim found out that we lost Julie, whom he knew well, he sent money to the girls every Christmas for almost 10 years. He would call me and send flowers on my birthday every year. We would catch up on all the news in our lives and I loved that. Jim was such a special brother and I loved him very much. I will miss him but feel comforted knowing that he is now with Mom, Dad, and our Julie.
I would certainly agree that Jim had a positive, sunny outlook on life – and was pleasant to be around.
Jim sold me his car – which he bought from Craig – which came from the Pontiac dealer near the Naval Academy.
Fair winds, Jim – you were one of the good guys.
