James Edgar Lyster

James Edgar Lyster, M.D. aged 90 years, passed away at his home in Temecula, CA on July 26, 2018. Born in Pico, CA on March 29, 1928 to parents Dorthy and Earl, he graduated from Excelsior High School in Norwalk, CA, Class of 1945. He earned an undergraduate degree from University of Southern California and served his country as a medic in the Korean War before going on to complete his study of Osteopathic Medicine at University of California Irvine in 1962. Dr. Lyster concluded his medical training and residency at the Los Angeles County Medical Center and began his practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Pomona, California soon after. He went on to deliver tens of thousands of babies through his practice at Park Avenue Hospital, Pomona Valley Hospital and Montclair Doctor’s Hospital. Throughout his career, Dr. Lyster touched the hearts of many families, and was delivering a third generation before his 2008 retirement in Temecula, CA with his wife, Beverly. He is survived by his 5 children and 10 grandchildren, to which he is lovingly known as “Tata”. Tata’s love of family was only surpassed by his love of God, and he considered himself honored to be doing God’s work by delivering His gifts into the world.
