Jeanette Crandall

jeanette crandall

Jeanette Mary Crandall, aged 89, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, in Temecula, California. Born on June 2, 1935, in Syracuse, New York, Jeanette was a beacon of kindness, love, and humor throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.

Jeanette dedicated her early career as a Special Education Reading Teacher at Bear Road School in Syracuse, New York. Later in life, she brought dedication and excellence to her work at Withum, Smith & Brown in Princeton, New Jersey. Post retirement she loved to keep her kids’ homes bleached and soaped and routinely changed decor, often with those tacky plastic flowers her own mother loved so much.

A lifelong learner and avid reader, Jeanette’s love for literature was apparent in both her professional and personal life. She loved traveling, always with a book in hand. A lover of wine and stories, Jeanette was known for recounting cherished family memories, often during joyful deck parties with friends in Minnesota, or on the porch of the summer home, overlooking the St. Lawrence River, with her cousins in Chippewa Bay, New York. Jeanette was a member of the North Syracuse Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.

Her family was the center of her world, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. Jeanette is survived by her three children: Susan Doyle, Steven (Kelley) Crandall, and Christine Hyman. Jeanette has eight grandchildren: Derrick (Kimberly) Crandall, Samantha Stevens, Christopher (Nicole) Doyle, Elizabeth Crandall, Corey Hyman, Elise Hyman, and Lucile Crandall; and five great-grandchildren: Landyn, Ethan, Ryleigh, Kane, Kaiden, and Amos. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Robert W. Crandall, and her parents, Joseph and Mary Calpeter.

A celebration of Jeanette’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The DAISY Foundation or the American Cancer Society, honoring her memory and the causes she and her family valued deeply.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to England Family Mortuary, Inc.
