Kathy Jo Smith, 59

1963 – 2022

Kathy Jo Smith was born on August 29th, 1963, in the town of Minot, North Dakota to Mr. Weslie and Lois Vannett.  Currently Weslie Vannett (deceased) and Lois Kupser. Kathy was the youngest of three daughters raised in Minot, North Dakota.

Kathy, a graduate of Minot High School 1981, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Minot State University, and a Master of Education degree from Curry College, Milton, MA. Kathy and her husband Jeffrey Smith, from Minot, welcomed three beautiful children to the world on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Kathy was committed to teaching all children as well as her own.  She loved to take her kids on adventures to see new things throughout her life.  Kathy’s family enjoyed living in new places including Boston/Cape Cod, MA; Washington, D.C./Fairfax, VA; and Riverside/Temecula, CA.

In recent years, Kathy shared her gift of molding young minds at Rancho Christian Elementary School, she always had a special connection with children. She has nothing short of a kind and caring demeanor.  Each student that walked through her door was important to her and she worked hard every day to remind them that “everybody” was a “somebody” in her eyes.

Over the years, Kathy enjoyed sitting on the beach with a cup of coffee at her husband’s side, volunteering for civic and scouting events alongside her family, growing in faith through devotionals with her best friends, and supporting her family and watching her granddaughter achieve new milestones. She was always blessed with the ability to be sure everyone was cared for.

Earlier this year, she and Jeffrey celebrated 32 happy years of marriage and making memories together. Their marriage was admirable to those around them.

Kathy was a dedicated Christian who has continued to grow in her faith and express words of God in pure love and confidence. Her warm smile, generosity, and thoughtfulness have touched each person that had known her. She will be deeply missed by all.

Kathy is survived and forever loved by her husband, Jeffrey Smith; daughters, Alexandra and Victoria; her son, Eric, Smith; and granddaughter, Morgan Schmoll; her sisters, Terri Johnson (Marlowe) and DeeAnn Hansen (Art); her mother Lois Kupser (Tony); Brother and Sister-In-Law, Tom and Jeri Smith; Father and Mother-In-Law, Dave and Lorraine Smith, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews and Nieces at the time of her passing.

In lieu of flowers, the Smith family will kindly accept donations to Kathy Smith – Funeral and Medical expenses through her GoFundMe account organized by Veronica Ramirez.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to England Family Mortuary, Inc.
