Mabel Dolores Lee
November 23, 2024
Mabel Dolores Lee, age 89, passed away on November 23, 2024 in Murrieta, California. She was born in the year 1935 in Los Angeles, California to Alfonso and Clara Merino. Mabel attended South Gate High School and worked at the South Gate pool where she met the love of her life and future husband, Donald Lee. They married in 1954 and went on to have four children: Karen, Don Jr., Gary, and Monica.
Mabel was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother of ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her, and like a fierce momma bear, was a force to be reckoned with when it came to protecting her loved ones. Mabel was the quintessential homemaker: she was an excellent cook, enjoyed sewing and crocheting, loved working in her garden, and especially cherished working with young children. After raising her own children, Mabel worked various jobs: at The Broadway, Don Thomas Jewelers, the Anaheim Convention Center, and—her love of all—working as an aide with children at elementary schools in the Murrieta School District. Mabel worked with children until she permanently retired at the age of 77.
As a devout Roman Catholic her entire life, Mabel loved her faith very much and dedicated her time and efforts to supporting the Church. She worshipped Our Lord Jesus and honored the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mabel, along with her husband, Don made many sacrifices to ensure that all four of their children attended parochial school. It was important to them that their children were raised to have a strong Catholic foundation.
Mabel is survived by her husband of 70 years, her four children, three generations of grandchildren, and her three brothers Alfonso, William, and Dennis. She made a loving impression on this world during her life. She will be deeply missed and will always be in our hearts and memories.

May her memory be a blessing.
Thank you, Erin ❤️
I have fond memories of playing with Monica at the Lee’s home on Ivanhoe Street, 55 years ago. Mabel also gave me swimming lessons at the neighbor’s home, for which I’m grateful. I remember carpooling in her station wagon to St. Justin Martyr School in Anaheim. My mom, Rose, enjoyed her friendship with Mabel very much over the years. I also remember my mom being an encouragement to Karen, when she was a new nursing mother. I am sad for your family‘s loss. I will keep you in my prayers. May your dear wife, mother and grandmother rest in peace. God bless you all!

Thank you Shirleen. She really loved all of you too. Love You 🫂
What an amazing tribute to your mom. A life well lived…to be so blessed to have such a large family who loved her deeply is all that one could hope for. Mabel is heaven now, preparing a place, in her own special and unique way, where you will all join her one day. In the meantime, she will be your angel by your side.
Thank you! Love you two!
Aunt Mabel, your passing has left a hole in our world. You raised four beautiful children and were a loving spouse, mother, and godmother. We ask for your intercessions from Heaven!
Our condolences to Uncle Don and the entire Family. May you all find peace and comfort in the memories shared. I am sorry I am not able to attend, but will be there in Spirit. Your Mom will be missed. Love and hugs. Colleen and Kevin Wedmore.
The Howard and Phyllis Lee branch of this beautiful family tree sends our deepest, heartfelt love and sympathy on the passing of our Aunt Mabel. We are certain that our Mom and Dad were part of a warm welcoming committee at the gates of heaven. We will always have wonderful memories of our annual family gatherings at Grandpa Lee’s for Thanksgiving, and then at the rotating homes of the Lee brothers for Christmas. To Uncle Don, Don Jr., Gary, Monica, and all of your families, we truly feel for you. The memory of Aunt Mabel will live on in our hearts. Love, Jeff, Greg, Jill, and Sam.
