Marilyn Latchford Priem was born on June 28, 1932 at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, NY. Her biological mother was of Irish descent. Her mother surrendered Marilyn to the Commissioner of Public Welfare of Westchester County because she could not take care of her. Marilyn was in foster care until she was legally adopted by her parents, William Cajetan Latchford and Marguerite Katherine Latchford on January 8, 1935. Marilyn grew up in a town house overlooking the Hudson River and George Washington Bridge. Her parents moved to Lake Success, Long Island in 1948. Her father became the Mayor of Lake Success and dealt with the fledgling United Nations. Marilyn graduated from Great Neck High School and went on to Centenary School for women in Hackensack, NJ.Marilyn eventually embarked on a career with the Fashion Magazine specializing in Interior Design and worked with Donald Deskey of New York. She then went on to a career with General Electric as a Stockholder Relations Consultant were the highlight of her career was having lunch with Ronald Reagan, pre-actor and president.Marilyn loved to travel and was blessed to go to Rome, Paris, London and her favorite place Bermuda.Marilyn married Roger William Priem in 1955. Her major accomplishments were the births of four beautiful children, R.J., Rick, Meg, and Karen, whom she clearly loved and nurtured into a family to be extremely proud of. Roger and Marilyn joined the Manhasset Bay Yatch Club where they raced one design sailboats and were members of the Race Committee. Roger and Marilyn eventually moved to the Pacific Northwest, Gig Harbor, Washington. Where they enjoyed Seattle and the beautiful surrounding Puget Sound and mountains.Eventually Marilyn moved to Del Mar, California and then she and Roger moved to Murrieta, California where her health diminished and she eventually passed away on May 3, 2011 with her two cats, her two daughters and her husband by her side.Marilyn was a giver. She gave to her friends, worked to raise funds for Cerebral Palsy, sang in the choir at St. Therese of Carmel Catholic Church in Del Mar, California, and volunteered at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, California from 2000 through 2008 where she devoted over 3000 hours of her time helping and comforting people.Marilyn was known by everyone for her sense of humor, her caring, loving and giving personality. She loved animals, especially her cats, Wilhelmina, Laverne, and Shirley. She was loved and touched by all who met her! She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She sacrificed and gave so much to her children and gave to her friends. She will be truly missed and in our hearts forever! Until we meet again, we love you GiGi!
