included repairing and operating bomb jammers, loading bombs on B-52 aircraft, or driving tractors
towing trailers of agent orange in the bomb dump. With his one-year tour of Thailand completed, he
returned to the US and was assigned to the 320th Field Maintenace Squadron, Mather AFB, Ca.
Released from active duty in 1971, He later joined the Cal Air National Guard for one year, assigned
to the 162nd Mobile Communications Squadron in Sacramento. Using his GI Bill, he graduated
Sacramento State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Police Science in 1974. While
going to college, he began his civil service career in 1972 with the Franchise Tax Board working in
the printing room. Martin later transferred to the Dept of Justice as a criminal ID Specialist in the
classification and identification of fingerprints. Martins next career move involved a lateral transfer
to the Dept of Alcoholic Beverage Control unit as an investigator, assigned to the San Francisco
District Office. During this time, he was selected to the newly formed Drug Enforcement Narcotics
team. He was involved in hundreds of hand-to-hand narcotics buys. His career then moved on with
a promotion to Supervising Investigator in 1991, assigned to the Inglewood District Office. His final
move was to the San Diego District Office. Finally in 1995, he retired from the State of California
while living in Carlsbad Ca. His retirement years involved his main hobby of building, repairing, and
driving hot rods. Over the years, he bought and sold hundreds of classic cars, hot rods & corvettes
to name a few. He was a member of many car clubs with the last one being the Events Director for
Corvettes of Temecula Valley. Then, in 2020 he reconnected with the love of his life, Marci. A love
story 54 years in the making. A definite Hallmark made for TV movie!! Marci & martin were married
on Maui, Hawaii on 6 May 2021 at Fleetwood’s Mac’s Restaurant.
Martin is preceded by his parents, Robert & Betty, and sister Denise. He is survived his wife Marci,
