Norma Olivia Cortazar

norma cortazar
Norma “Gucci” Olivia Cortazar Islas was born at 4:44 p.m.at Lincoln Hospital on Soto St. in East L.A. to Nellie Andrea Murillo and Oscar Alonzo Cortazar. The youngest sister bonded in love with her sisters Evangeline and Yolanda. Her smile lit up a room and her infectious laughter fostered priceless memories with family and friends within her vibrant 73 years. Her parents would later move to Downey, CA where she would begin collecting new titles that she took great pride in through the love of her first born daughter Marie she became a mother. A wife to her husband Jose Antonio for over 40 years. In the span of those years she welcomed three more children, two sons and a daughter: Antonio Jr, David, and Laura. She spent her adult years in Pomona CA and most of her remaining years in the Temecula, Wildomar area. A caregiver, an advocate, a volunteer and a determined survivor in her consistent battle with her health. She understood the importance of family and led with a genuine heart filled with love, determination, strength and willpower early on in her story and that would remain the common thread to the essence of her. Family was her highest priority and she often joked that if she could do it all over again she would have been a Grandma first-that title she was born to outshine at. Radiating the happiest glow to those around her. She was incredibly proud of all her grandbabies: Ryan, Derek, Mason, Madison, Indigo and Ryder and countless honorary children in need over the years. Blessed with the gift of spoiling her fur babies just as well. Always ready to give freely of herself and ensuring a welcome invitation of family and trust with her Son in Laws: David and Cory as well as her Daughter in Law Nina. Famous hugs to recharge your spirit and fill you with joy was always a beacon of home to those around her. Happy at home cooking and entertaining waiting anxiously for the satisfied sounds of full tummies to share in her gift of love and comfort. She loved to sing and shared that love of music with everyone around her. Loving, cooking, singing, dancing, laughing, smiling, giving and celebrating encompassed the true nature of one unforgettable, loved beyond measure and missed beyond words Friend, Daughter, Sister, Mother, Wife and Grandma who passed peacefully surrounded by the love and support of family.
