Patrick Henry Belton

patrick belton

Patrick Henry Belton, affectionately known as “Huck” and “Huck-a-buck” was born on
March 21,1948 in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Patcelia S.
Belton and Sonney Belton. He died peacefully in his home with his wife Kathleen on
Monday, April 8, 2024 at the age of 76.
Patrick was a graduate of Bethel High School in Blythewood, South Carolina and
attended Zion Canaan Baptist Church. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy during
the Vietnam War. Patrick later achieved a Bachelor of Science degree from Cal Baptist
University in Riverside, California.
Patrick enjoyed a long career, over 35 years, in public transportation working as transit
coach operator, supervisor, and operations’ superintendent for transit companies in
Columbia, and Long Beach, Riverside, Garden Grove, and San Bernardino, California.
Patrick was a joyful and charismatic “people-person.” He loved his family and had a big
hug and special nickname for each one, making a point of telling them at every
opportunity how great they were. He also enjoyed drawing, playing golf and dominoes,
and all adventures big and small with Kathleen. He loved life and dedicated his life to
serving the Lord.
He formerly pastored Praise Jehovah Deliverance Ministries in Riverside and most
recently served God at Imani Temple under Superintendent Mason in Temecula,
California and at Friendship Christian Fellowship Church under Pastor Wooten in
Riverside. Patrick began and ended every day of the week in prayer. He faithfully
participated in one to three prayer meetings every day and taught a bible study every
Tuesday afternoon.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Kathleen Blanchette Belton; two daughters and a
grandson from his former marriage to Patsy Belton, Francelia (Anthony) Belton-Briscoe
and Charnecia Belton, and grandson Marcellus Belton. Patrick was also beloved and
will be forever cherished by children he raised with unconditional love with Kathleen,
Holli (Dan) Nuchols, Christopher Wallander, and Michelle (Peter) Manley; grandchildren
Joe (Ariel) Nuchols, Samantha (Johnny) Horton, Jacob (Nicole Collier) Nuchols, Kaitlin
Nuchols, Abraham Wallander, Allison Manley, Gavin Manley, and Gwenyth Manley; and
great grandchildren Olivia Nuchols, Peyton Nuchols, Brynlee Horton, and Kelby Horton.
Patrick was preceded in death by his brother Miles Belton and leaves to cherish his
memory two brothers Willie (Jetiva) Belton, Sidney (Effie) Belton, and sister Harriette
Dreher, all of Columbia. He will also be remembered dearly by his beloved nieces and
nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
