Tammye Lea Guerrero Whitmore Ellertson was born in La Mesa, California on November 4, 1964, to Candace and Eddie Guerrero. Tammye grew up in El Cajon, California. As a young girl, Tammye was inseparable from her younger sister, Lisa. They spent many happy hours playing sports and socializing with friends. Tammye was also a doting sister to her younger brother, Scott, who she loved very much.

Tammye spent her teenage years cheerleading for Granite High School. She graduated from Granite High in 1983. Along with cheerleading, she loved being with friends. Many special memories were made as she spent time with her church congregation, the El Cajon 5th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Many lifelong friends were made during these teenage years; she had a special place in her heart for this time in her life.

After high school, Tammye spent a brief period of time pursuing higher education in Idaho and Utah before deciding to become a manicurist. This occupation fit her perfectly, as she loved to chat with, and get to know, all of her clients.

Tammye has always been a California girl at heart. It didn’t take long for her to realize that the cold winters in Utah and Idaho were not for her. After moving back to California, Tammye met and later married the love of her life, David Ellertson, on January 6, 1989 in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Tammye and David have been blessed with four children, and Tammye poured her heart and soul into motherhood and family. She made it her life’s work to create memories and traditions with her children and extended family. Nothing pleased her more than to have all the family together playing games, eating good food, or going to the beach. She loved to celebrate family birthdays and went above and beyond to show each of her children how special they were to her.

Tammye was a woman of many talents. She was an excellent cook and showed her love for her family and friends through many amazing meals. She was also very artistic and creative. She loved to spend time with friends through her hobbies such as scrapbooking and cooking.

Tammye had a tremendous love for her Heavenly Father. She was baptized on November 4, 1972 and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. Her faith was instrumental in helping her through her cancer treatments and surgeries, as well as the loss of two of her grandchildren.

Tammye treasured every moment of life after her cancer diagnosis. She was determined to spend as much time as possible making memories with her family. During her three years of cancer remission, she was able to watch her daughter, Brynna, get married. She also welcomed four new grandbabies into the family. These life events brought her everlasting joy.

Tammye returned home to her Heavenly Father on July 17, 2024. She is survived by her husband, David Ellertson, her mother, Candace Whitmore, her father, Eddie Guerrero, her sister, Lisa Fields (Mike), her brother, Scott, and her children, Blair Ellertson (Samantha), Brooke Dudley (Jordan), Blake Ellertson (Maxine), and Brynna Bollar (Tanner).
