Our Cremation Safeguards
For families choosing cremation, it’s important for you to know we offer only the highest level of care for your loved one.
Your Loved One Never Leaves Our Care
England Family Mortuary owns and operates our own crematory with licensed and certified staff. Many other funeral homes hire third party crematories. These often have multiple funeral homes transferring remains in and out at any given time. This makes it nearly impossible for those other funeral homes to manage and supervise the cremation as well as England Family Mortuary can do for you.
Safeguarding Personal Identity
Our Unique Tracking System
At England Family Mortuary, every person in our care is logged into our tracking system and assigned an identiÂfication number, which is stamped into a brass identifiÂcation disc. This number is used to track every phase of the cremation process. Our tracking system includes date and time of arrival at our facility and name of the transfer technician.
Family Identification
Our staff will bathe and dress your loved one in the clothes provided by the family or a gown we provide. Then, we will ask you, or a representative, to positively identify him or her prior to cremation in the casket or cremation container of your choice. We offer these services, but they are not required.
Our Cremation Process
Every staff member involved with cremation at England Family Mortuary is recertified every two years. Our high standards require that two individuals will review all cremation paperwork prior to cremation. This is to ensure authorizations have been received and have been properly documented. Once all documentation is veriÂfied, both staff members must sign the cremation order, prior to the cremation.
We record the name of your loved one, the date and time of the cremation, identification number, crematory operator’s name, as well as additional information regarding the cremation. Our crematory log is dated and the start time is noted and initialed by our cremation technician before and after the cremation.
The crematory documents, personal identifiÂcation band and brass identifiÂcation disc are placed on the outside of the cremation chamber during the cremation process. This disk is attached to the urn.
After The Cremation
After the cremation is complete, the cremated remains are placed with the brass identifiÂcation disc into an urn. You will be presented with an official Certificate of Cremation when you receive the cremated remains that guarantees all the above steps have been followed.
